Feels Like a 'Crochet & Denim' Day!

Hello!

Welcome to the final day of our current

challenge here at The Twinery.

We have two fabulous designers
sharing two very creative ways to use banners!

This time the theme is all about banners, and I LOVE banners!

I took some old jean pockets and cut them out (I have LOTS of jeans to choose from because my son can't wear a pair of jeans for more than a few weeks before the knees have holes in them!).  I die cut some felt shapes and used various colors of twine from The Twinery to add accents to the pieces and to stitch them onto the pockets.  I only stitched through the first layer of the pockets so that I would be able to put something inside the pockets if I wanted and so that the back of the denim banner would look nice & clean.

For the first pocket I threaded some twine through the eyelet border at the top & added accents on the butterfly & sun on the bottom corner.  I used a sequin in the center of the sun for added shimmer. I also used one of my favorite new twine colors EVER :) and that is the Rainbow Teal Shimmer twine that is stringing the banners all together.

I loved using the new Purple Shimmer twine on the butterfly.

For the middle pocket I stitched around the flowers with various twines and used it to hold the buttons onto the pocket.

I used the Purple Shimmer Twine around the top of the banner
to add a bow and some sparkle.

For the last denim pocket, I again used the twine to stitch on some buttons and also used the shimmer twine as an accent around the flower.

And how about this fabby banner project
from designer Ashley Bores ...

Hi everyone!  This is Ashley from Heartmade Life and I'm excited to be sharing another fun idea on this last day of the Banner Day Challenge!  Today I'm showing you how you can create this sweet spring garland with crochet flowers, using nothing but bakers twine!

To create this bakers twine flowers, I used a US D3 (3.25mm) hook, and I find it's perfect for bakers twine from The Twinery.  To create your own, try this really quick and simple pattern!

Using a slip knot, chain 2.  Make 5 single crochets into the second stitch from your hook (the first chain).  When you make it all the way around, slip stitch into the first single crochet.  This makes the center of your flower!

*Chain 2.  In the same stitch you just slipped into, make 3 double crochets.  Then chain 2 more, and slip stitch into the next single crochet on your flower center.*  This forms one petal.  Repeat the * section for 5 petals, and then clip the twine.

After I've made all my petals, I simply bring the twine ends to the back of the flower and tie them in a knot!

To connect the flowers into a garland, I used the NEW natural twine in a simple chain, attaching a flower every 15 chains.  You could even change the center of the flower to another color, add leaves, and incorporate as many colors as you like!  For my garland, I used Caribbean, Pink Sorbet, Marigold, Strawberry, Honeydew,  Cantaloupe, Orchid, and Solid Natural.  The color combinations here are endless!

With so many awesome banners from the Design Team this week, I hope you've found something to inspire you!  I hope you'll play along and I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.  :)

Today is the last day to play along with this "It's a Banner Day" challenge!  There are GREAT prizes up for grabs, so be sure to link up your creation using banners in some way today.

Baker's Twine Banners Galore!

 Welcome!

It's definitely a 'Banner Day'
as we have two wonderful projects
from two wonderful designers.

It's Jaclyn and welcome to my very first post as a member of The Twinery team. Today, I'm featuring a cute and simple little banner for our
Banner Day Challenge, featuring our newest twine!

The draping rows of twine on this banner are the star of the show! To create this, begin by cutting about a 3' section of twine in each color (I have used Strawberry, Seaweed, Ocean, and Midnight Blue). Lay all of them out flat on a table. Tie the far left end of all of the sections together. Move down about 6" and tie a loose knot. By leaving the knot loose, you can pull the sections of twine towards the left to create the drape. Once you are happy with how they drape, you can tighten the knot. Simply work your way down until you're at the end. Then, die cut some scalloped circles and label with your favorite stickers.

This banner can be adapted to fit any kind of party. You can even make it a bit smaller and use it to top a cake!

And now something fun & fabulous from
creative team member, Jamie Cripps ...

Jamie with you today sharing a fun little banner that is perfect for embellishing your cards or layouts and it is fast and easy!

Here's what I used :

Image of Cantaloupe - Light Orange & White Baker's TwineImage of Honeydew - Light Chartreuse Green & White Baker's Twine
Image of Ocean - Deep Teal & White Baker's Twine Image of Stone - Gray & White Baker's Twine

Here's how I made it :

1.  Punch or cut out your banner shape then cut four strands of The Twinery Twine, each about 8" in length.
2.  Adhere the twine strands on the the back of the banner shape.
3.  Wrap the twine around the banner pieces in different directions.
4.  Use a piece of tape or adhesive to adhere the end of the twine to the back of the banner shape.
5.  Use a marker to color the top of the banner.
6.  Place foam adhesive on the back of the banner shape then adhere to your project.

I love all the texture and dimension the twine provides!

Have a Wonderful Day!

Some days, we just need to remind ourselves to have a wonderful day no matter what! Monika here with you today sharing my project for the It's A Banner Day Challenge.

I used both Blossom Iridescent, which is a limited edition shade, and Green Shimmer on my little banner and used a skewer to thread through the grommets. The way the shimmer and iridescent catches the light is just so lovely in real life.

Here's hoping your day is banner-worthy! If there's no time to make your own, just head over to  download this free design and just add twine!

And don't forget to link up your projects for your chance to win!

Have fun!

A Banner Win!

Hi Everyone!
It's Kathy with a layout for our Banner Day Challenge here at The Twinery, featuring our newest twine!

I have a soft spot for banners.  I love adding them to my layouts and cards, big ones, small ones, mixed banners...just can't get enough of them!  And nothing completes the look of a banner better than a draping of Twinery Twine!  I thought a banner would be the perfect addition to my layout featuring my daughter's winning gymnastics team!
They're undefeated this season!

I created my banner using a series of dies that I own, but this is an easy style of banner to create without a die as well... just strips of paper with a notch cut in the bottom, completed with our new Rainbow Teal Shimmer Twine!  I think that this is my all time favorite twine from The Twinery!

There is an easy trick I teach in a lot of my classes to add twine to a banner so that everything falls with a natural drape.  First, place your banner pieces on your background paper and adhere them where you want them to lie.  Next squeeze a thin line of liquid adhesive where you would like the twine , and then add your twine.  It's so much easier to get things where you want them when you add the Twine last!  It's such a simple way to use your Twinery Twine, but it adds a LOT of impact!

We hope that you will play along with our Banner Challenge this month.  If you link up your Banner project here by 11:59pm on March 28th, you could win these fabulous prizes!

I hope you decide to play along and I can't wait
to see your banner creations!

It's a Banner Celebration!

 Stacy here with you today!

I simply love the soft colors in this Teresa Collins paper line...add some of the uber fabulous new baker's twine to it and you can't go wrong!!  The banners at the top of the card are from the brad set with this line.  I thought about hanging the banners from the twine, but changed my mind at the last minute!  I wanted a bow around the button at the bottom corner of the card.  I simply LOVE how well the neutral color works with this design.

We'd love for you to come play along with us

Celebrate Spring!

Hello and welcome!!  This is Amy from Scrapping Mommy with another banner to inspire you for our fun It's A Banner Day challenge.  I use some die cut images and two of the new colors of bakers twine from The Twinery to create this banner for my fireplace mantel.......

I braided the new Rainbow Teal Shimmer and Blossom Iridescent along with the Marigold bakers twine together to clip the banner pieces onto.  I also used a little bit of the Rainbow Teal Shimmer twine
to create the body of the butterfly......

I just love the way this looks over the fireplace and most especially the puffy little tail on the bunny that I made from the
Blossom Iridescent bakers twine.......

For those who may be basic cardmakers,
Julie Ranae has created a quick & easy project
with our banner theme as well.

What a fun card featuring our Platinum Shimmer twine.

A Very {Unique} Banner!

Hi everyone! It's Sarah here today to share my little banner with you.  I have a banner on a smaller scale- a gift tag!

I had been saving that little girl for a long time now, just waiting for the right project. My mom's birthday gift tag was that project- she loves to sew and the girl even kind of looks like her! First, I took a 1x12 inch strip of fabric, ran a gathering stitch down one of the long edges and pulled the thread to gather it into a semi-circled ruffle.  I hot glued that to a plain manila shipping tag, then stitched the little girl to the tag on the top and bottom.

Next, I used some tiny wooden spools and wrapped two with Seaweed twine and two with Ocean twine.  I slipped them on a strand of Ocean twine, then ran that through the open part between the girl paper and the tag and tied a bow on the edge.  I added some letter stickers and tied the tag to the bag with more Seaweed twine. To add to the whole sewing theme, instead of tissue paper, I used pieces of a sewing pattern to fill the bag. Patterns are normally a bit pricey, but you can pick them up
for a steal at $1 every now and then.

Join us the rest of this week and next for our banner celebration! Be sure to show us your banner and link it up HERE for a chance to win a great prize!
