Valentine's Day Goodies

Hi Everyone!!

It's Kathy here with my very first post for The Twinery!! I am so excited to get to work with all of this awesome twine and such a great group of ladies!

When I first found out I'd be part of the design team, I immediately thought... Valentine's Day! Every year the ladies at my local scrap store host a Valentine's Crop, and part of the fun is that everyone exchanges Valentines like we did when we were kids. I decided to make some cute goody bags with some twine accents.

I started with strips of card stock, 4"x 11". I scored them at 5" and 6", then die cut a heart on one side. The bag topper is a 4 1/4" x 4 1/2" piece of patterned paper, with the edges of two sides scalloped. To decorate the topper, I cut cute kitty Valentine shapes (my husband calls me the crazy cat lady)... to be adorned with some twine!

Each kitty has a "collar" with a twine charm. To create the charm, I punched a small heart, covered it with adhesive, and started winding twine around to fill the shape.

At the end, I simply snipped the extra.

F
or the goody part of the goody bag, I filled a small, clear bag with Kisses and Hugs, and stapled them into the bag. To complete the look, I added the twine heart charm and a little twine bow.

And here's my basket full of kittens!

After completing this project, I realized I had a bunch of hearts left over from die cutting the bags, and I just couldn't let them go to waste. I decided to make mini Valentines for my daughter to share with her friends at school. I outlined the heart with twine, leaving a little extra to tie a bow, and die cut a little hugs and kisses banner. I stapled the whole heart to a little bag with some chocolate kisses!
