Cat's Drool & Dog's Rule!

It's Katrina from Paper, Scissor and Glue back with another idea
on how to use twine on your layouts!

Now, I am a layer it, embellish it kind of girl.  I am of the house "more is better",  BUT what I did with this layout can be done to any layout, even if you are a clean and simple scrapbooker. (side note...I LOVE clean and simple layouts, I just can't seem to do them...ask anyone that crops with me!)  Everyone has little embellishments that you add to your layouts, whether it is chipboard, lettering, buttons, or a simple tag.  You can use twine on ALL of those!  And The Twinery baker's twine is wonderful to do this with!  The color ranges make it EASY to add a bit of twine here or there.

At first glance, there is a lot going on, but once you look at the layout you start to
pick up on little details....like the twine!!  I used just the Caribbean color on my layout,
because it flowed with all the other colors!

I used the twine to accent my chipboard border and the heart/star combo in the middle.
I love to make double strand bows out of my twine...I am addicted to making them!

I then noticed that the sign on the doghouse would be perfect for a bit of twine.  So, I took a short length, tied knots in each end and used a brad to "hang" the sign from.
I did use a glue pen to adhere the twine to my layout so that it would lie flat.

And just in case you were wondering, this is Higgins!
He is a very vocal Cardigan Welsh Corgi...one of three in the house!

Thanks for visiting today!!
And there are some EXCITING things on the horizon for The Twinery!!!
Can't wait for YOU to find out!

Here's a free August Calendar to plan all of those summer activities for the last days of Summer!

Recommended way to print: Click the link directly above the table above. This will lead you to a scribd.com page that will have our calendar. Click on "Print"...then choose the High Quality Download & Print option. Save the document as a PDF to your own computer - saving it as a PDF ensures that no details of the calendar will be lost, distorted or resized. You can print the saved document from your computer(the calendar is 8.5x11 and we recommend printing it on white card stock for best results). If you save it as a PDF, you'll just need Adobe Reader to view and print the calendar. Adobe Reader can be found here for free.

Sweet Treats from Paper Treats!

Caroline, from Paper Treats here! I have been working on my son & daughter's parties for weeks now. August 12th is their birthdays and the parties are on the 13th! Carson is turning 8 and is having a baseball party. Madeleine is turning 13 and is having a Patisserie party! So it will be a fun and BUSY day! You'll have to stop by my blog to see all the photos after the parties!

Madeleine loves pastel drop mints, so I wanted to display them in a fun way for her party. Since there's always so many things to buy, I went "shopping" through the things I already own instead of just buying more stuff. A while ago I found this neat jewelry tree from IKEA.
It's a great base for my "sweet tree".

I bought adorable cupcake liners from my local bakery shop and punched 2 holes.
Charcoal twine from the Twinery worked great as a hanger!

Meet Jenny!

Hi all! My name is Jenny! I'm a mom to one beautiful girl and I got married this past October 2010 to the most amazing man ever.  We live in the Golden State, California. I'm from Virginia...I sure do miss home.  I love my day job, it’s the best...but by night I'm a
 paper-crafting night owl. I love all things fun and exciting and I love the outdoors - especially the beach!  I love paper-crafting and stamping, they are my favorite hobbies!! My favorite is paper piecing, it’s my specialty. And I would say my style is cute and fun with a little vintage throw in there sometimes.  I mostly do cards but occasionally I love to scrapbook and make altered items. You will see from a lot of my creations, I love PINK! My inspiration for my arts and crafts is my little girl, she loves to do crafts with mom.  I even set up a little desk for her in my studio.  It just tickles me pink that she loves it as much as I do.  Gotta cherish that mommy/daughter time! I was so thrilled to be asked to be a designer for The Twinery, I feel so blessed and honored to be working for such a wonderful company and with such a talented group of designers!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Many of you may know Jenny by her online presence via her blog, Wee Memories! Jenny runs the Wee Memories Challenge Blog which has a cult following (is that an "okay" word to use in reference to crazy talented designers!?!) & loyal participation from some of the most talented papercrafters and designers out there!
You can also visit Jenny here...
Take a peek at what Jenny has created with The Twinery's baker's twine...
Along with that...you can also see Jenny's helpful video post on how easy it is to use the PSA Essentials stamps!
We hope you enjoyed getting to know Jenny a little better! We love having her on The Twinery's Design Team - she always inspires us with her fun designs and paper crafting talent!!
Havin' a Luau with The Twinery
Hi there! It's Stephanie here to share with you another great way to use
The Twinery's fabulous baker's twine- as hibiscus flower centers :)
Let's pretend we're having a luau today (& let's pretend the date says the 25th, not 22nd-oops!) To start we'll need an invite, right? I whipped up this invite using Illustrator. I used a die cut to make the frame & lemondrop & pink sorbet twine to hold it all together.
To add some cuteness, I attached these paper hibiscus flowers & found that the
perfect centers can be made using The Twinery baker's twine.
How do you make these you ask? Easy! Just grab these supplies:
baker's twine, scissors, needle, hole punch, & die cut hibiscus flowers.
1. punch 2 holes in the smaller flower & use a needle to pull the twine through.
2. tie a knot using the technique shown.
3. tie simple knots at each end
4. apply a 3D mounting square to the larger flower & layer together
The result:
What else does a party need?
Perhaps a little thank you card to give the guests paired with a party favor.
And maybe a few cupcake toppers- just stick a toothpick through the 3D mounting foam.
And there we have a few quick & easy party supplies made cute with The Twinery!
I hope this technique inspires a project or two in your future :)
Have a great day!
Stephanie
Supplies used:
The Twinery baker's twine: Lemondrop, Pink Sorbet, Honeydew, & Caribbean
Cardstock: Recollections
Die cut: Cuttlebug
Stamp/ink: Studio G
Christmas in July - Labels & Twine
It's hot and humid and sunny and sticky here in East Tennessee, but that hasn't stopped me from hosting a Christmas in July theme all this week on my own blog, I Love It All. Hi, I'm Monika, and everything from mini books, packaging, gift tags, bag toppers, notecards and free downloads have been revisited.
It only seemed fitting, then, to share some Christmas in July ideas here on The Twinery blog don't you think? The great thing about these packaging ideas is that you probably have some of the same items at home that you can upcycle and recycle. Instead of having to purchase cute tins to gift your handmade sweet treats, start planning now so that you're prepared.
Here's my starting point...
...an assortment of baker's twine in MaraschinoCappuccino and Honeydew {also available in a Sampler Pack} along with recycled containers and various glassine and kraft bags from my Etsy shop, iloveitall
Wondering where those cute gift tags came from? The Twinery has a FREE DOWNLOAD of Printable Tags and Labels available in every color of baker's twine in the Shop. Just go to the sidebar and you'll find the download there. I just added my personal information with a graphics program.
Upcycling a cheese crumbles container, I cut a circle from cardstock with my circle cutter {to hide the logo} in a color to coordinate well with the Honeydew baker's twine and added a strand of Maraschino twine as well. After using this technique to thread twine through the hole I punched in my tag, I tied a bow and voila...scrumptious bakery treat ready to be gifted. Visit with me on my blog today and I'll show you what I did to "cutify" the bottom of this container.
After deciding to use kraft bags, I knew that Cappuccino would be my twine color of choice and I added some Honeydew as an accent after finding the perfect patterned paper. I trimmed, border punched and then glued the paper bands to my bag before filling my bag and folding over the top. Tying with twine keeps the treats secure and fresh and makes this gift cuter than ever.
And one more Christmas in July idea for you...just wrap The Twinery baker's twine {in Maraschino here} around your container and use a pop dot to adhere your tag or label.
Look what I did to the top of the container using my large scallop punch and yet another tag!
What have you created using the FREE labels and tags from The Twinery? Why not share with us all by posting them to the Flickr Group, we'd love to see other fun ways to use them.
You can find me here:  blogetsy
...and I also have a giveaway on my blog for a variety pack of gift bags shown in this post.
Votives with a Baker's Twine Twist
Hello, Twinery fans!
This is Linda, from burlap+blue, and I am so happy to be here today sharing another project with you all!
Twine-wrapped votive holders are perfect for your mantel, or as an easy centerpiece. I filled mine with sweet, white daisies!
Materials Needed:
Twine from The Twinery (I used Charcoal)
votive holders
flowers or candles
The how-to for this is super simple:
Take the twine of your choice, and wrap around your glass votive holders. When you have wrapped to the desired effect, cut and knot!
So simple and so easy-that's my kind of crafting!
I could make these for every room of the house....
My kitchen and dining room tables are currently in competition for them:)
I'm curious, what color twine would you use to create these little lovelies?
Baker's Twine Accents with Julie Ranae
It's a new week and we are so glad you stopped by!
It's Julie Ranae here from Julie's Open Window
with a couple of greeting cards featuring
the best baker's twine on the planet!
Of course, I am speaking of the beautiful twine-goodness from
The Twinery!
I love working with die cuts and sometimes all they need
is a little extra pizazz bring them to life.
I used 'Blossom', 'Charcoal' & 'Cappuccino'
and just wove the three colors around the perimeter of the beaded oval frame.
The center sentiment is a die cut sticker...easy peasy!!
This next project is seriously an easy add for any type of card.
 This card was created for the current sketch challenge
over at The Craft's Meow and part of the challenge calls
for a narrow 'strip' of sorts behind the focal point.
Here's what I'm talking about....
...so rather than use a strip of cardstock, I went with
a 'panel' of baker's twine in beautiful 'Honeydew'.
I love how versatile baker's twine is for my card-making
 and with all of the fabby colors available from The Twinery, you're never
at a loss for additions to your projects.
Hope you enjoyed my time with you today.
