Spotted on TV?! Yes...it's true!

Over the weekend, I spotted something...

The Twinery's baker's twine on TELEVISION!

Here's the little scoop...

So, on Saturday night...I was up late...I had hundreds of orders to pack up to ship out over the weekend and I was on such a roll packin' them up that I just continued into the wee hours! I had the television on to have some back ground noise...I had no clue what was on...it was just noise to keep me company as everyone else was soundly sleeping everywhere else in the house. All of a sudden, I heard "Hi, We're the girls from Layer Cake Shop!" Well...that got my attention! I love Layer Cake Shop...Greta and Kristen {the owners} are not only super sweet and fabulous hardworking moms, but I've been ordering from Layer Cake Shop for a long time...and they stock my twine in their shop too! Okay...back to the story...

So, I turn to watch the TV once I hear their sweet voices...

I realize that I have LXTV's First Look on (on NBC)...I've watched the show many times before...they usually showcase some fabulous theme...Saturday's show (I guess technically it was Sunday morning) was all about Great Websites and they were actually filming the episode at Etsy's headquarters that day! They were interviewing the girls from Layer Cake Shop...why? Because they have a fabulous website {and that's what the show was all about}! I continued to watch their little segment and MUCH to my surprise...I saw my twine on TV!!! The camera was focusing on all the lovely items that Layer Cake Shops sells and what they do and a few times...they zoomed right in on The Twinery's twine. I know...it's nothing much, but I was so excited. The Twinery - however indirectly it was - made it's debut on national television.

{Insert Happy Dance here}.

Take a peek at the feature that LXTV did on Layer Cake Shop...and keep your eyes peeled (especially around mark 00:33...) for our baker's twine!

And the winner is...

Love is in the Air....

Hi everyone! This is Sheri with a quick Valentine project to share.

Don't you just love Valentine's Day?

I love the all the pinks and reds that go along with the special day, the cute little cards and trinkets you can find....just the overall feeling that it brings.

Here's a quick project I wanted to share with you!
I created this love banner that you can hang from your mantle, below a picture frame or you can attach it to magnets and put on your fridge like I did! I had so much fun putting it together.

I started with some manila shipping tags and of course, some luscious Maraschino twine!

I pulled out all of my love themed, red and pink embellishments and just started adding them on! This part was the most fun...just going through those little bits and baubles and finding just the right touch. It's also a great way to use up those leftover bits from kits!

And here's some close ups of each tag:
And here's some more of that lovely Maraschino!

It was such a fun project to make! I hope you dig through your fun bits and have as much fun creating your banner as I did!

All Tied Up....Valentine's Day Notepads

This is such a fabulous idea for little Valentine's Day treats...

Read on to see how Hera, one of our design team members, used our baker's twine to embellish little Valentine's Day notepads...

~~~~~~~~~~~
where did january go? cant believe we're almost into the second month of 2011 already. but with that second month comes the big heart day. if you're gearing up for a party to celebrate it how about a little play on the "twine" idea by writing... are you tied up for valentines day? these were made for a friend's daughter to give out at school hence the notepad type theme. and after the party they can be used for bookmarks. handy, no?
the hardest part about creating these was choosing which lovely colour of twine to use. I narrowed it down to four! caribbean, cappuccino, lemondrop and pink sorbet. happy valentines day, everyone.
Valentine's Day Goodies
Hi everyone! Jenny Suchin here to share with you some Valentine designs with twine!!
I heart the twine from The Twinery!
And aren't you drooling over the new colors!!
Haven't seen them?
Been sure to check them out HERE!
Honeydew, Blossom and Charcoal!! EEK!
I cant wait to get my hands on them to play and create!
My first card is some yummy little Twine Pops I did with some of my favorite colors of twine from The Twinery! Don't they look yummy? All the sweet stamps I used in today's projects are from Lawn Fawn!
To make the twine pops, cut a circle from your MS punch .. mine is 1.5" circle, tape the whole circle with some strong tape then start in the middle with the twine and just circle around till you completely cover the circle. Then just cut any circle that shows. Take some popsicle sticks and glue them to the back of the circle. Cover with cellophane transparent wrap and tie with twine! And then you have a sweet yummy twine pop!
Here are a couple more creative ways to use your twine!
Use it to hang cute hearts or anything!
I LOVE making bows with my cute twine!
This would make a super sweet card for your loved one! :)
So much variety!
So many uses for twine!
And all in awesome colors!
Be sure to visit The Twinery today and get some for yourself!!
I hope I have inspired you to break out your twine and get creative!!
Happy Everything
More Mini Valentine Cards...
Hi there! I have 3 more Valentine's mini cards to share with you. You may remember the one on the far left from a few weeks ago.
Each card is 3x3 inches & has a white space inside for writing love notes. For the ones that have stitching on the front, I lined the inside cover to hide my mess :)
Here's a little break down of how I made each one:
For the arrow on this card, I started by punching 2 holes for the main part of the arrow. Using a needle & twine, I double stitched the straight line & then punched more holes & stitched the point. I moved to the back & punched 4 holes & made the tail of the arrow. Last I added a stamp & sticker to complete the look.
This 4 hearts card was inspired by the card on the cover of the current issue of Scrapbooks Etc. For the hearts I used the technique from the u+me=♥ card. So far that's one of my favorite ways to use twine :)
And last, this little XO card. The X was super easy, just punch 4 holes & connect the dots. I stitched 3 layers on this one. For the O- I used the sticky side of a letter sticker, started at the bottom outside edge, & wrapped the twine around until the whole sticker was covered.
Well, I hope I've inspired you a little bit today :)
Have a great day & give these techniques a try!
Stephanie
I've gathered a few of my favorite sweets, and then also some of my favorite "treats" from a variety of lovely shops to give you a bit of inspiration for Valentine's Day.
One Fine October Afternoon
October?! I know...it's only January...but you'll see what we mean...
Just take a peek at this adorable scrapbook page created by one of our design team members - Sheri.
Sheri used our Pink Sorbet twine to create a page about her fun October afternoon...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hello! This is Sheri with a layout that I just completed using the amazing Pink Sorbet twine! That color is one of my faves so far!

I created the little pom on the tag by simply wrapping the twine around two of my fingers in loops, cut a piece and tied the loops in the center, then cut the loops.

I love the look it gave...I think it added just a bit more punch to my layout! Then of course, I had to tie a little bow on the other side of the tag!

See what I mean? Isn't this just the most luscious color? You must get yours now! It's perfect for those Valentines projects coming up.

Speaking of which....I must go and finish mine! Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Twine-Handles Gift Bags

We LOVE this creative way to gussy up your paper bags! This is such a great idea...from the crafty creator behind burlap+blue, Linda!

~~~~~~~~~~~
As I've mentioned before, I am honored to be part of The Twinery's I Design with Twine team. I love thinking outside of the box and finding creative ways to use twine. I originally had a very different project scheduled for this month, but it did not turn out the way I had envisioned in my head (that ever happen to anyone else?). I'm glad, though, because I love this idea even more...and even though I adapted it for Valentine's Day, it really can be used anytime, for any occasion.
Yep. Twine-handled gift bags. I love buying a baker's dozen of kraft/paper bags at Michaels, but am always looking for ways to gussy them up a bit. I think I've found my answer.
Supplies Needed:
twine
paper bags
hole punch
embellishments
Step 1: Take a pair of scissors and cut off the paper handles of your bag at the bag's top edge. You do not need to fish out the handles from inside the bag-no one will notice them. Take your hole punch and punch out 4 holes (2 on each side) to feed your twine through...like so:
Step 2: Cut lengths of twine. For the white bag I cut 6 22" lengths of twine per handle. For the red bag I cut 4 22" lengths per handle. Did I notice much of a difference? Not entirely...though I do like the slightly thicker handle of the white bag. If you do 4 lengths instead of 6, do note that you will have to knot each handle end an extra time or so so that it doesn't slip through your hole.
(random picture of pretty twine...isn't it yummy-looking?)
Step 3: Insert twine through holes and knot!
You will notice that for the white bag, I took the twine through the front of the bag and knotted it so that you could see the knots in the front of the bag. For the kraft paper bag, I kept the knots hidden inside the bag.
Step 4: Embellish as desired! I used a calendar card from Pretty Little Studio for one bag, and a scrapbooking tag for the other.
Be sure to check out The Twinery on Facebook and Flickr for more creative uses for twine!
Valentine Tags
Hi, it's Katrina!!!! Hope everyone had a wonderful New Year!!!
As we all know Valentine's day is fast approaching, and now is the time to start making the cards, tags, gifts, etc if you are going the handmade route!! Oh, totally do not forget the mailboxes either!!
This tag took literally no time to make. I would have made a few more...but my mess needed to be cleaned up and I needed to get to bed!!!
I knew I wanted to make a twine heart shape out of my baker's twine from The Twinery. So, I drew a heart and cut it out. Then I took redline tape (super sticky double sided) and covered the heart with it. Then I took my Pink Sorbet twine...started at the top point, and just laid my twine around the outside of the heart. Then I just kept going until I had the heart filled in. I then tied a small knot with some ends sticking out from the Caribbean twine and glued it in the middle. Then I decided I needed another heart, so I mad a bigger one, use the same colors of twine and then glued the smaller one on top of the bigger one.
(See Stephanie's tutorial on how she made her hearts....I think this would have been quicker!!!)
A little distress ink, a little Unity Stamp action, some K&Co paper, with some vintage lace, a little more Twinery twine in Cappuccino...and Voila a tag is born!!!
Supplies: Shipping Tag, Unity Stamps, The Twinery Baker's Twine,
Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker Cute as a Button button,
K&Co Sweet Nectar paper, Memento and Distress Inks, FabriTac and Red Line adhesives.
I love this tag as it is, but it would look so cute on a scrapbook page or on a card. If you haven't tried to make these kinds of tags.....pull them out, grab some Twinery Twine and start creating!!!!
Have a Scrappy Kinda Day!!~~Katrina
Hi! It's Tifany from Ink Blots by TRD and today I have stepped out of my box by using multiple patterns in my card.
I paper pieced the cup using dimensional adhesive between the layers and I added the white foam to add a little texture. I topped it off with an adorable accent using The Twinery's Pink Sorbet twine.
I added a little extra touch of twine next to the sentiment to finish it off.
I hope you have an enjoyable day!
Wrapped around your finger...{or card}!!
Hey everyone!
Jessica here with a fun project featuring one of my FAVORITE colors of Twinery twine, Pink Sorbet :) I fell in love with this little digital image so after coloring it with my Copics I decided I'd find some matching twine and wrap it around a few times. I love the look of this simple and fun technique and it really showcases the fun of using twine as one of my favorite embellishments:
An easy tip for this technique: Make sure you leave a few inches of twine loose on one side before you begin to wrap around your paper or cardstock as this will allow you two decent-length ends to tie up your twine alone or with a button here as shown:
I am SO excited to be designing for The Twinery in 2011! Thanks for hangin' with me today and I'll be back soon with another fun project featuring this awesome product! For more detailed information, you can visit my blog :) Thanks so much for stopping by!
xoxo,
Jess :)
Valentine's Day Coupon Book
We have a fun surprise for you! Ivona of Sugarsticks Parties (and one of our fabulous design team members) created a Valentine's Day Coupon Book Printable for you!! Her blog post is below...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I was working on my project for The Twinery at the same time I was finishing up our Sweet Valentine Collection.

So naturally, it came about to be something Valentine’s Day related:)

These days, with everything parents have on their plates, we have to make an effort to spend quality time with the kiddos.

valentines day, twine, The Twinery, free printable, coupon book, pink, red, purple

And no matter what they say, the kiddos do enjoy one-on-one quality time, even if those of teenage years claim otherwise :)

It seemed to me like a coupon book from a parent to a child would be a cute, but meaningful, little Valentine.

valentines day, twine, The Twinery, free printable, coupon book, pink, red, purple

It has some quirky pages like dinner choices and prolonged bed time, as well as more active quality time.

There are 2 blank page designs, for parents to write in unique kid related activities.

The cards measure 3.5 by 5 inches, and I just punched a corner hole and created a twine flower from the Maraschino and Mandarin twine for a bit of extra decoration.

You could also make a friendship type bracelet from the twine and tie the coupon book with it, so that way the kiddo has a lasting memory :)

The three printable sheets include three different page designs, for you to mix and match any way you like.
