Whooo Loves You!

Hi Everyone! Angelica over at Handmade by Angelica here, and today I'm going to show you how to alter a SUPER inexpensive MDF wood home decor piece (can be found at most big box craft stores) just in time for Valentine's Day!

For this project you will need:
- MDF (or comparable) home decor piece
- White acrylic paint
- Iridescent Glitter (I used Martha Stewart fine glitter brand)
- Aleene's Triple Thick Glaze
- Sea sponge
- Aleene's Tacky Glue (or a hot glue gun)
- Punches, stamps, pattern paper (optional)

First, coat your piece with white acrylic paint and the sea sponge. The sea sponge will prevent fewer (if any) visible paint strokes than if you were to use a regular brush. Simply dab and it will cover quickly because of the large surface area of the sponge.

Afer the paint has dried and you've cleaned off your sponge, take the same sponge and dab into the Triple Thick Glaze. Apply evenly over your sign. The glaze dries clear and will act as an adhesive for the glitter you'll apply next by simply shaking over the entire piece. Once dried, quickly burnish with your palm or a glitter clean-up cloth to remove any glitter that didn't adhere. You'll be left with sparkling beauty!

You could leave it at this point, but I had to put a little more "pop" into this. All of the colors from the Twinery could do that, but since it's almost Valentine's Day, I chose Pink Sorbet.
Begin by applying glue (I used Aleene's Tacky Glue because it dries super clear and pretty fast) about 1/4" from the edges of the area you will start lining with your twine. I decided to go around the heart first.

Do the same step as above for the rest of the letters/areas in your decor piece.

For an added little "something", I decided to punch out an owl and a branch for the end where the "E" is. This step is totally up to you - experiment with any fun little character! These punches are from Stampin' Up.

Isn't she cute? I gave her a matching bow too. I love accessorizing my die cuts and punched pieces with twine!

Once complete, you'll be left with a cute little sign you can hang or display on a shelf each Valentine's Day! Thanks so much for stopping by, hope you enjoyed today's post!
