Friend to Friend

Hi! Jen here from Jen's Ink Spot! Now that Christmas has past, I'm ready to move on to the next holiday...Valentine's Day! I love playing with pinks and reds! They are so fun, so girly and just beautiful together.

I love the red twine by the Twinery. Did you pick some up to wrap your Christmas gifts with and now have leftovers? Why not use a little as an embellishment on your card. I just LOVE how a little twine adds so much color and visual interest to a card!

Doesn't that twine just complete the card? It practically pops off the cardstock! The other wonderful thing about it is that it isn't as bulky as ribbon so it is easier to mail! If you are a cardmaker you know how important that can be if you don't want to add postage to your envelope or risk your envelope getting torn up as it goes through the postal system.

To color the tree, I pulled out my much neglected gel pens. It seemed fitting to have a pink, white & red tree on a Valentine's Day card!

If you are wondering how I made the birds eyes, it was really simple. I took two strands of black DMC floss and knotted it three times. Then, I threaded one end through a needle and sewed it through the felt until the knots were where I wanted them. Then, I took the other end of the thread that was still on the front side of the bird and threaded my needle again and poked my needle right underneath where the knots were and pushed it through to the back. This made both ends of my floss end up on the back of the birds. I tied the two strands together, snipped off the ends and used a glue dot to adhere the birds to the cardstock.

One more picture to entice you...

Ahhhh, isn't it gorgeous? :) Maraschino twine by The Twinery. You can see this color and all the other fun colors by visiting The Twinery's website!

I hope you enjoyed this sweet little card!
